Streaming Platform Setup Guide
Step-by-step instructions to set up your virtual event stream on YouTube Live, Zoom Webinar, or Facebook Live.
Requirements
- A verified Google / YouTube account
- Phone number verified on your YouTube account
- No live streaming restrictions in the past 90 days
Embed URL Format
Replace YOUR_VIDEO_ID with the ID from your YouTube Live video URL (e.g. youtube.com/watch?v=YOUR_VIDEO_ID).
Sign in to YouTube Studio
Go to studio.youtube.com and sign in with your Google account. Click 'Go Live' in the top-right corner of the dashboard.
If you have never streamed before, YouTube may require a 24-hour activation period after phone verification.
Schedule your live stream
Click 'Schedule' to create a scheduled stream. Enter your event title, description, and set the start date and time to match your PassAfrik event.
Configure stream settings
Set visibility to 'Public' so all attendees can access it. Under 'Advanced Settings', enable 'Allow embedding' so the stream can be embedded on PassAfrik.
Enabling 'Allow embedding' is critical — without it, the stream will not display on the virtual access page.
Copy your embed URL
Once the stream is created, go to the video's page and copy the video ID from the URL bar. Your embed URL will follow this format:
Paste into PassAfrik event settings
In your PassAfrik event editor, enable 'Virtual Experience', paste the embed URL into the 'Stream URL' field, and save.
Make sure to save your event after pasting the URL, otherwise attendees will not see the stream.
Go live at event time
At the scheduled time, return to YouTube Studio and click 'Go Live'. Your stream will automatically appear on the PassAfrik virtual access page for all ticket holders.
- 1.Use YouTube's built-in chat alongside the PassAfrik chat embed for maximum attendee engagement.
- 2.Enable 'DVR' in stream settings so late attendees can rewind and catch up from the beginning.
- 3.After the event, set the video to 'Unlisted' and update the PassAfrik replay URL to give ticket holders continued access.
Always do a test stream 30–60 minutes before your event to check audio, video, and embed URL functionality.
Ensure a stable internet connection with at least 5 Mbps upload speed for a smooth 720p stream.
Have a backup stream URL ready in case your primary stream encounters technical issues.
Send attendees a reminder email with the event start time and instructions to access their virtual ticket link.
